Highlights and Quotes:

Blake’s servant heart has resulted in him being recognized by the Association of Christian School International (ACSI) and receiving the prestigious Distinguished High School Student Award. Blake says, “As Christ did, I strive to respect all and serve all. I am constantly endeavoring to aid those in need and volunteer in various service projects. I’m a tutor, peer mentor, and coordinator of activities.”

Blake was once deaf from a dreadful battle with bacterial meningitis, but he is blessed to have had some hearing restored. Blake traveled to Jamaica on a mission trip where he was part of team that served at a camp for deaf children. Blake used his story during this trip as he explains, “We played games, drew pictures and provided hope. I was surprised by how much the kids embraced me and wanted to learn more about my story. They played with my hearing aids and we prayed that they would be able to hear one day. The kids were incredibly interested in my personal story and my accomplishments as a hearing impaired young man.”

Blake’s testimony is a unique story which has grounded him more in the Lord. Blake says, “I’m positive that my life was spared during my awful battle with meningitis so I can be a blessing to others. Through my accomplishments in sports, the testimony of my survival becomes even more extraordinary, and I get a chance to be an inspiration to others in more ways than I ever dreamed. God blessed me to be a blessing to others, and my involvement in the Christian community helps me accomplish that goal. I will continue to use the platform that sports affords me to reach others and share the greatness of God.”
